The Ronald McDonald House in London, Ontario was our home away from home. My son was born at 31 weeks in Windsor, and a week later transferred to London. He had double chest tubes for a double lung collapse and his heart stopped 3x due to this so he needed 24 hour care. The nurses hooked us up with Ronald McDonald House as a place to be close to the baby and a warm place to be. The House was there for us, volunteers having meals prepared for us, a warm comforting place to sit and relax, telephone amenities to call home to family, gift cards were given to purchase our own things forgotten from home, a private pumping area for feeding and all the volunteers were just so kind. We stayed for 4 weeks before being transferred back to Windsor.
Thankful and appreciate their kindness.
My son is now 11 years and is smart, independent and mature beyond years - growing strong.
