When you dream of having your first baby, you have visions of holding your baby for the first time, and not long after, taking your baby home. My reality was much different than this when my daughter arrived having an infection which turned out to be meningitis. After 2 weeks in our local NICU we were sent to the Children’s Hospital in London for her to receive further treatment. You can imagine how stressful it is to not only have a sick baby, but to be away from home and from your family. Thankfully, Ronald McDonald House provided a place for me to stay to be close to my baby without having to worry about extra financial costs. Ronald McDonald House Charities was beyond a blessing to me and my family. It was a place for me to relax after long days spent at the hospital, and was also a walk across the street for any moments where I needed to quickly be at the hospital. The staff and volunteers are nothing short of amazing, providing lots of opportunities for families to de-stress and have a little less worry if only for a short time. From hot cooked meals every day, to fresh baking, tickets to events, and free massages and spa days! Being able to stay at Ronald McDonald House helped to keep me in the strong mental state I needed to be in to see my daughter through her treatment. I’m blessed to now have a healthy, thriving 2.5 year old. I can’t say enough good things about Ronald McDonald House Charities, and this charity will always have my support!
