The Possibilities Project, St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation

My name is Patrick. I have a story to share.

When you suffer a physical trauma that affects your life and you are broken, it not only affects your life but also the people you love.

On May 15, 2015 I woke up like any other day. By the end of the day I was paralyzed from the waist down. There were no answers, just questions. After admissions to Victoria and University Hospitals I was admitted to Parkwood for rehabilitation. To me, Parkwood is a community. I felt loved. I also met a woman who operated a charity almost single-handedly. Her name is Chris and the charity is the Possibilities Project. I thought, what a perfect name.

I was at a point where I needed to make a transition from hospital to home. With limited finances it seemed very difficult to do but Chris came to my rescue. We found a wheelchair porch lift and with the kindness and consideration of the Possibilities Project we also had a ramp built and received an over-the-bed table. So now I can get into my home. The independence is a wonderful feeling.

I know one thing for sure, and that is with a partner like Lerners these things are possible.
