I have been a volunteer wish granter with Make-A-Wish since 2003. I have had the privilege of meeting over 40 wish kids while helping make their dream wishes come true. I was inspired years ago after reading a story about a little boy's wish to become a police officer and how volunteers made it happen. I wanted to be part of an organization that could help impact a child's life.
All the kids have individual interests so I like meeting them for the first time and learning about their wish request. I enjoy seeing their excitement and smiles on their faces when they learn their wish is coming true. I remember one little girl asking me if I was her "fairy godmother." I certainly feel like it when I'm granting wishes.
Volunteering with Make-A-Wish is something I'm passionate about. It makes me feel good and supports a healthy mental disposition.
I'm happy to make a contribution with my time in order to support an organization which has such a profound effect on so many lives.
