Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario

The Ronald McDonald House Charities is charity that I will be forever grateful for. In my most desperate, vulnerable, earth shattering moments of my life it provided a place to call home to rest my head and be steps away from my child fighting for his tiny little life. My son who is now five years old was born with Down Syndrome and spent 5 weeks in the NICU when we found out after birth he needed intestinal repair surgery. We spent most of the first two years of his life in London Health Science Centre with complication after complication with a total of 12 specialists following him where they eventually put him on end of life care. With great struggle we were eventually accepted to Sick Kids where we spent another year and a half in and out of hospital in Toronto and there we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House Toronto Charities. Both Ronald McDonald Houses are near and dear to my heart but Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Southwestern London was our first home away from home.

Without the RMH I would have missed two years of my other two children's lives but instead they were able to visit on weekends allowing family time with me in London and when we moved to the Toronto RMH they were able to stay full time because the RMH in Toronto had a school which provided much more stability for my children to have their mother with them.

The Ronald McDonald House is a shelter for soldiers at war- these parents fighting long heart aching battles alongside with their children. It provides a place for parents to know they are not alone and share their stories. It allows a place to laugh, cry, mourn and grow and heal together. The friendships I have made on this journey through the Ronald McDonald House are like no other. There is no place like it. It is a magical place. As much sadness that can be there, there is always so much joy - so many battles won, so many goals overcome. I know in my life I have a desire to give back to the RMH but my hands have been so full and I have been looking at ways to try to help give back and say thank you. I hope this this letter can be my way to help to give back by convincing you that Lerners Law Firm's donation can help continue to forever change people's lives for the good.

Sincerely,

- Jennie
